Marjes Benoist

At the age of 19, Marjès graduated from the Amsterdam Conservatory, where she studied with Jan Odé, Jan Wijn and Hans Dercksen. This was followed by two years of study in Rome with Guido Agosti and two years at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow with master pianist Yevgeny Moguilevsky. She has performed extensively as a concert pianist and as a soloist with orchestra, and has given numerous recitals, lectures and published articles.

Marjès has devoted most of her life to educating exceptionally musical children. From 1991-2016 she worked as a senior piano teacher and methodology teacher at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Here she shaped and led the Sweelinck Academy, the training course for young talent. Since 2016 she has been teaching at the Musical Talent Academy in Utrecht.
In recent years there has been hardly a piano competition where at least one of her students did not end up in the top 3.
